Parking on Campus

Effective immediately, underground parking is no longer available on the UMass Boston campus. SBDC clients, workshop attendees and visitors have three options once on campus (see campus map above).

  • Option 1 is the Short-Term Lot just past McCormack Hall on the left (across from the Fox Point pavilion). This small lot (30 spaces) accepts visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking fee is $3 for up to 60 minutes, $6 up to 90 minutes, and $12 for over 90 minutes.
          To reach the Boston Regional Office & Minority Business Center in McCormack Hall, one can either climb the access steps on the left to reach the plaza and proceed left to the McCormack, or enter the Wheatley Hall entrance on the right, and ascend via stairs or elevator to the 1st floor, exit Wheatley and proceed to McCormack. Take the elevator to the 5th Floor in McCormack Hall and proceed to Room 403.
     
  • Option 2 is the North Lot (Campus Center Lot) -- this is a much larger lot. The parking fee is a flat $6 with no time limit restrictions.
          To reach the Boston Regional Office & Minority Business Center
    , park and proceed through the Campus Center to McCormack Hall. Take the elevator to the 5th Floor in McCormack Hall and proceed to Room 403.
     
  • Option 3 is either the Beacon Lot or the Clark Lot. The entrance to both will be on your left, and both are adjacent to the Clark Athletic Center. The parking fee is a flat $6 with no time limit restrictions. Note: in the remote case that Beacon or Clark are full, one may park in new Lots A, B, and C (across from the Clark Lot).
          To reach the Boston Regional Office & Minority Business Center, park and ascend the stairs to the Plaza, then proceed to McCormack Hall. Take the elevator to the 5th Floor in McCormack Hall and proceed to Room 403.

Training Workshops/Seminars: On-campus multiple session workshops are generally held in the Healey Library, Lower Level (LL), Instructional Technology Center (ITC). Single session seminars may be held at different locations, so please confirm location beforehand with the SBDC training coordinator at 617-287-7750.


From the South

Take Interstate 93 North to exit 14 (JFK Library/Morrissey Boulevard) and follow Morrissey Boulevard north to the campus.


From the North

Take Interstate 93 South through Boston to Exit 15 (JFK Library/South Boston/Dorchester). Take a left at the end or the ramp onto Columbia Road, and then take your first right in the rotary. Follow the University of Massachusetts signs along Columbia Road and Morrissey Boulevard to the campus.


From the West

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) east to Interstate 93. Take I-93 South one mile to Exit 15 (JFK Library/South Boston/Dorchester). Take a left at the end or the ramp onto Columbia Road, and then take your first right in the rotary. Follow the University of Massachusetts signs along Columbia Road and Morrissey Boulevard to the campus.


Public Transportation
  • Subway: Take the MBTA Red Line subway to the JFK/UMASS station. Click here for the MBTA subway map. A free shuttle bus will carry you to the campus. Shuttle bus circles from subway station to UMass Boston and back regularly throughout the day, three to four minutes apart. The one-way trip takes about six minutes.
  • Commuter Rail: Take the commuter rail to the JFK/UMass station from the South Shore on the Middleboro and Plymouth lines. Complete schedules are available at the MBTA web site.
  • Bus: Kenmore Square stop (service all day): the Number 8 bus; the last one leaves campus at 1:00 a.m. or Forest Hills stop (rush hour only): the Number 16.
